On her seventh album, All Born Screaming, St. Vincent penned a collection she referred to as “post-plague pop.” With contributions from artists ranging from Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl and Cate Le Bon, the album is one of her most rocking in quite awhile.
That’s good news for all those who love to hear the artist born Annie Clark shred, since she is an absolute guitar hero. She is also one of the most unique and varied pop tunesmiths around, with a quirky sonic sensibility on recordings that presents itself as something entirely different in a live setting.

A driving force in the globe-spanning Indo Canadian music scene, Surrey-based Karan Aujla is winding up the Canadian leg of his first arena tour with a home turf show.
The 2024 Fan Choice Juno award-winning singer is riding high on Street Dreams, his latest collaborative album with Mumbai-based rapper Divine.
With singles streaming steadily on the YouTube global music chart and U.K. Asian music chart, Aujla appears to just be getting started on the way to superstardom. His songwriting chops are in demand with contemporaries and his high-energy delivery blew folks away at this year’s Juno Awards show.
The singer announced his first India headline tour earlier this week, all of which makes the title of the tour seem far less like a dream and firmly, solidly real.

A Canadian rock ‘n’ roll hero, guitarist/singer Randy Bachman left the Guess Who at the peak of its fame to form a new project called Brave Belt.
On the suggestion of Neil Young, bassist/vocalist C.F. (Fred) Turner was hired on for gigs. Turner’s throaty bellow was a perfect match for Bachman’s new harder-edged direction and Bachman-Turner Overdrive delivered its debut in 1973.
From there, the band exploded on the scene and enjoyed considerable success through the ’70s.
Now the band behind such classics as Takin’ Care of Business, Hey You and You Ain’t Seen Nuthin’ Yet is playing the PNE Summer Night Concerts on the 50th anniversary of its first show at the Pacific Coliseum.
Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim will declare Aug. 20 BTO day in recognition of this historic event.

One of the few family bands that has managed to make music for almost three decades without publicly feuding with one another, the Kings of Leon dropped its ninth album this May. Titled Can We Please Have Fun, the cover art shows the band looking anything but jovial but Caleb, Jared, Nathan and Matthew Followill sound like they’re back in the groove on the 12 new songs.
With the fourth single, Nowhere to Run, getting steady airplay and the band’s back catalogue loaded with hits and fan favourites, the coming tour should be a blast for longtime fans of the band’s brand of Southern rock.
